Senior Chinese leader meets ROK congressional delegation

President Hu Jintao's upcoming visit to the Republic of Korea will advance bilateral relations, said top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Monday.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks in a meeting with a trans-party delegation of ROK congressmen led by the deputy speaker of the ROK National Assembly, Moon Hee Sang.

Jia congratulated the ROK athletes on their remarkable achievements in the ongoing Olympic Games.

China and the ROK enjoy satisfying growth in bilateral relations, Jia said, noting that the Communist Party of China will increase exchanges and cooperation with various ROK political parties, in a bid to push forward the China-ROK strategic and cooperative partnership.

Moon said the ROK is looking forward to Hu's visit.

The successful Olympics is bringing great joy to the ROK people and people all over the world, he noted.

Moon and his delegation are visiting from Aug. 18-22 at the invitation of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. Wang Jiarui, head of the department, met with Moon and his delegation on Monday.
