They will face Australia, placed fourth in Group A, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. The U.S. beat Australia 87-76 in a pre-Game warm-up in Shanghai on Aug. 5.

Sven Schultze made Germany's only basket in almost seven minutes when the U.S. led 20-3 in the first quarter, and the game was out of touch from the Germans.

Germany finished fifth in Group B, losing the chance to advance to the quarter-finals in their first Olympic journey in 12 years.
